We have a 1st grader now!

Sophie had her Kindergarten Program this morning. It was ABSOLUTELY precious. Her daddy and I both cried, though her daddy might not admit it! She is growing up right in front of us but it's times like these that make it smack you rig
ht in the face! Her teacher was the most terrific teacher in the world. We truly are so thankful to God for hand-picking her for Sophie. We could not have been more blessed by her than we were. She showed day in and day out how much she loved our little one and was excited to help her grow.

Our Big Little Girl

Sophie lost her first tooth yesterday. It was sad and exciting all at the same time. She really did not know what to think about the whole thing. She cried at first and said she wanted me to put it back in. I finally got out of her that she thought the Tooth Fairy was going to come last night and take ALL of her teeth!!! Bless her little heart, she is so literal!

We treated her to a trip to the ice cream store (Ben and Jerry's, of course - for Aunt Erin!), so that made her relax quite a bit. This morning, once she was able to see the gift from the (overly sentimental and completely still in shock that their baby is growing up so they make a huge production out of tooth #1 and way overpay)  tooth fairies, it clicked. Now she cannot wait for the one beside it to come out. Mommy, on the other hand, is freezing time right now!!!!

Rehearsing.....

Ella sings in her Spring Music Program for preschool tonight. We practiced a little bit this afternoon. :-)

*Remember that you have to pause the music on my blog before hitting play!*

Hall of Famer

Yes, we have a Hall of Famer in our house now! John was inducted into the Shelby County Schools Alumni Hall of Fame at the beginning of March. I have been meaning to upload pics from the induction ceremony, but things have been nonstop around here for the past couple of months!

Here are the pics and then I will give you all a quick update on why we have gotten NOTHING done on this blog in the past few weeks. I know I am terrible at it, but I am hopeful that things will settle down around here enough that I can start posting regularly again.

Miss E has had some pretty severe tummy troubles for the past couple of months (since she had the flu at the end of February). She had lost quite a bit of weight and we ended up seeing a pediatric GI specialist. They did an endoscopy and it appears that Ella has the beginning signs of Celiac disease. We have had her on a gluten-free diet for about 10 days now. She is like a NEW CHILD. She has put on almost 4 pounds since we started the diet, so we are almost back up to where she was before she got so sick. We are so thankful to God that a change in her diet seems to be what it took to make her well. When I am stressing out about the diet and the work it takes to make sure she is not eating something she shouldn't (gluten is in just about EVERYTHING!), I remember how sick she was just a few weeks ago. It makes me snap back into reality and out of my pity party really quickly!!! :-)

Last week at church, Miss E took a nasty fall on the playground at church and has been sporting two black eyes since then! Poor little one sure has had her fair share of it lately! I will get those pics up once I have downloaded all of them from my camera.

Miss S is well on her way to losing her first tooth! She is really working on it. She only has about one month left before she graduates Kindergarten. I cannot believe it. Where has this year gone???? She is reading very well and loves being at school. She has a creative, artistic side that leaves John and me amazed sometimes. Our biggest news for her is that she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior a couple of weeks ago with our sweet family friend, Missy. Missy might as well be her aunt or her other mother, really. Their bond is so sweet and special. It just seemed so right that Sophie would pray with her. We see a sweet, empathetic, precious attitude in her now that can only be from the Holy Spirit working in her sweet little heart.

Miss R performed this past weekend at the St. Jude Gala. I will upload that video soon as well. She is nearing the end of her freshman year at Briarcrest. We can hardly believe that either! She is looking forward to heading to Gulf Shores with her Sr. High group at church in early June. We are also trying to sneak in a Marmie/Daughter weekend in NYC this summer as well. Hard to believe that she is old enough to get her driving permit now!!! Learning to drive will, I am sure, be a priority for her this summer. :-)

Love to you all. Look for more pics soon!
